Jersey Pistol Club SuperShot Challenge

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

We're proud to have been able to support the Jersey Pistol Club's charity fundraising SuperShot Challenge, held last weekend 4th June 2011 at the Crabbe Ranges in St. Mary, Jersey, by supplying the, very important, score cards.

It was a full day of archery, fullbore rifle, air pistol, .22 pistol, smallbore rifle, clay target and black powder musket events all in aid of Jersey & Guernsey Hospices.

The Channel Islands’ Hospices do a vital job extraordinarily well. The Pistol Club have again chosen them as their adopted charities. Half of the funds raised at te weekends event will be shared between the Jersey & Guernsey Hospices, pro-rata to the number of Teams from Jersey and Guernsey. The other half will be used to fund Jersey’s participation in Commonwealth Shooting Championships.

Next year we've made a note to actually take part in the event too! Watch out as we know our aim is laser perfect!

New Guernsey Clinic

Friday, February 04, 2011

Due to the ever-growing demand for laser eye treatment, we are pleased to announce the opening of our Guernsey Clinic, making it easier for those who live in Guernsey to have their free initial consultation and after care. This will allow us to determine suitability for corrective treatment in Guernsey, meaning all you will need is a day trip to Jersey on the day of treatment.

As with our Jersey Clinic, your free consultation is performed by a highly experienced specialist Optometrist. Then if you are suitable and wish to go ahead, your procedure will be performed in Jersey by one of the UK's leading Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons, using the very latest laser technology.

Jersey Vision Correction Optometrist Dave Baker BSc(Hons) MCOptom comments: "After the initial success of the clinic we installed a brand new, state of the art laser one year ago. This has opened up the option of corrective eye treatment to almost everyone. Being able to carry out pre and post-operative assessments in both Jersey and Guernsey allows us to offer the best level of care with minimum inconvenience for the patient"

If you would like to book your free consultation in either island then please do not hesitate to contact Clinic Manager, Jen Castle, on 01481 714660.

Burkina Faso Project - Vision Aid Overseas

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Jersey Vision Correction's founder Dave Baker is travelling to one of Africa’s poorest regions to help improve the lives of thousands of people who desperately need spectacles to restore their sight, in order to help them lead a normal life. At Jersey Vision Correction we have successfully corrected hundreds of peoples’ eyesight using laser eye treatment. Now all those patients’ unwanted glasses are travelling with Dave to Africa to help improve the lives of those less fortunate.

After the success of last year’s trip to Ethiopia where Dave and the Vision Aid Overseas team treated and prescribed around 2000 people Dave jumped at the opportunity to be part of the team again.

Dave flies out on December 4th and aims to treat as many people as possible during his time in Burkina Faso. Dave comments:

‘We’ve had a busy year at the clinic and have now carried out over 700 corrective laser eye treatments. As a result I have accumulated a large collection of unwanted glasses that patients have left behind following their corrective laser eye treatment. It's great to be able to put them to good use.

Living in the developed world we take eyesight for granted. With glasses, contacts and now laser eye treatment being so easily accessible.  It’s great to be able to lead a team of eye care professionals, from across the UK, who selflessly devote their time to help people who are unnecessarily disabled by poor eyesight.”

If you want to see your old specs go to good use then drop them off at Little Grove Clinic, in St Lawrence, or simply contact us on 01534 727539 or via our facebook page to arrange for the glasses to be collected.

Vision Aid Overseas is an international charity dedicated to transforming access to eye-care services in developing countries by establishing Vision CentresThere are currently 670 million people - 10% of the world's population -disadvantaged by poor vision and a lack of glasses.

Wave goodbye to the prescription goggles.

Monday, November 08, 2010

Wearing spectacles and contact lenses can be a real hindrance; even designer styles aren’t always the perfect accessory for the party season. And when it comes to hitting the slopes in January prescription goggles can be a real bind.

Laser eye treatment can be used to treat a range of sight problems and with tailored payment plans it can actually cost less per month than your current eye care.

Jersey Vision Correction has carried out more than 720 laser corrective procedures working with the UK’s most experienced and respected refractive surgeons.

Pre-ski-season treatment dates are currently available at the end of November and between Christmas and New Year.

For further information about our treatments or to book a free, no obligation, consultation complete the booking form or call 727539.

12 Month Clinical Results Released

Friday, October 01, 2010

Jersey Vision Correction's 12 month outcomes of 702 wavefront-guided laser treatments. Presented at the XXVIII Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) on 8 September 2010 at Le Palais des Congrès de Paris, France.

At the beginning of September, Jersey Vision Correction was asked to present their 12 month treatment results at the XXVIII Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) at Le Palais des Congrès de Paris, 2, Place de la Porte Maillot, 75017 Paris, France.

Founded in 1991, the ESCRS is Europe's leading organisation for cataract and refractive surgeons and is at the forefront of developments in anterior segment surgery. The society currently has 4,000 members from over 90 different countries worldwide. The ESCRS offers a unique forum for discussion and learning which ensures that international expertise is shared by ophthalmologists all over Europe.

Optometrist Dave Baker BSc(Hons) MCOptom; Clinic Manager Jen Castle; and Consultant Ophthalmologist Prof Sunil Shah travelled to Paris to present Jersey Vision Correction's results for the last 200 treatments to around 4000 peers.

Jersey Vision Correction use a solid state laser which is permanently resident in Jersey; the CustomVis Pulzar Z1. This is one of the world's most advanced lasers for refractive surgery. Using a solid state laser ensures treatment is more predictable and reliable.

CustomVis Pulzar Z1 is designed specifically for this custom surgery market and uses a patented solid-state technology, permitting surgeons to treat more patients, with greater accuracy, and also to treat patients that other technologies may be unable to treat.

Dave Baker comments "Our results for the past 12 months match and in most cases surpass those of the large multinational laser eye surgeries therefore we have proven that we provide a more predictable and reliable solution allowing clients to receive a proven high quality treatment on their doorstep".
